St. Petersburg, Florida -- Pinellas County is repaving Park Street North from Tyrone Blvd. to Central Ave.
Park St. North, part of County Road 1, turns into Starkey and later Keene as it winds north. It becomes Park Street North at Tyrone Blvd.
The paving work started March 15 and is being accomplished primarily from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to minimize traffic jams on the heavily traveled road.
There is also a portion of Park St. North that is the original brick and that will remain protected and preserved from the resurfacing work.
Park St. North is also home to three parks: Abercrombie, Jungle Prada and Sunset. Additionally, it is also one of the most historic roads in the city and county, with a number of structures, such as the Admiral Farragut Academy, listed on the Florida Historic Register. That area of Park St. N. is also where portions of "Winter the Dolphin" and the 1985 movie, "Cocoon" were filmed.
