Pinellas County pet owners have options when it comes to finding safe places to ride out a storm. 

The best and most comfortable option for Pinellas County pet owners is a home of a friend, relative or coworker who lives outside of the evacuation zone. Arrangements should be made well in advance of the arrival of a storm.

The featured guest is Tom Iovino, communications specialist with Pinellas County Communications, who will provide helpful hurricane preparedness tips for residents along with resources available to provide all the information needed to weather a storm. Iovino will also share his experiences of working in New York after Hurricane Sandy.

The 2013 Atlantic hurricane season is under way, and the time to prepare for what the tropics can throw at us is now.  For the next six months, Pinellas County residents and visitors will turn a wary eye to the Gulf of Mexico, wondering if this is the year that the bay area’s luck will run out.

Restrictions for reclaimed water implemented

Pinellas County, Florida -- The season reclaimed water restrictions for Pinellas County reclaimed water customers will begin on Monday, April 1.

These reductions help avoid reclaimed water shortages during Florida’s traditional dry seasons which is April to June and October to November.

From April 1 to June 30, irrigation with reclaimed water supplied by Pinellas County is limited to three days per week, based on the resident's home address. The mandatory seasonal restrictions state:

Pinellas County, Florida -- It is only few months until the start of the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season, and now is the prime time for residents to review their survival plans.

2012 Atlantic hurricane season reaches halfway point

Pinellas County, Florida -- Tropical Storm Debby. Tropical Storm Isaac. The 2012 Atlantic hurricane season has certainly been an active one, and Sept. 1 just marks the halfway point.

Statistically, the majority of the activity for the season is yet to come. Since the hurricane record began in 1855, nearly 55 percent of all tropical storms and hurricanes form during the months of September and October.
