PSTA sets record for riders

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) has set an all-time record for ridership in the month of April.

Residents have take more rides April 2013 than in any other April in PSTA history. 

Agency leaders say there are several reliable factors that can affect ridership such as fuel prices. With those costs dropping recently, they credit job growth and continued record tourism for the new high.

Pinellas County, Florida -- What makes a diesel-electric hybrid bus so clean? Where does all of our trash really go? What are simple things that anyone can do to reduce pollution?

These are just some of the questions that will be answered at this Saturday’s Earth Care Event at the Allendale United Methodist Church, 3803 Haines Road North, St. Petersburg.

The event is on Saturday 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

TBARTA invites you to talk transportation

Tampa Bay, Florida--  The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) invites residents from seven local counties to join in upcoming talks about the region's future transportation plans and priorities.

TBARTA reps say they will host telephone "TownHall meetings" for 10 days starting Monday, April 1.

An automated system will call between 40,000 and 80,000 per night to extend an invite to the forum, and then TBARTA reps will take it from there to answer questions and respond to comments.

EB traffic shifts on Pinellas Bayway Bridge Monday

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The Florida Department of Transportation will shift eastbound traffic only to the new span of the Pinellas Bayway Bridge on Monday, March 25.  

This traffic switch will take place between 7 p.m. and midnight. Motorists should expect delays during this time.  The inside eastbound toll lane will be closed for approximately three weeks while roadway work is completed for the anticipated traffic shift for westbound traffic a few weeks later.

Tampa, Florida -- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. at S.R. 579 is closed in both directions due to flooding in the area. 

County Maintenance has been notified but in the mean time drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- We are currently on the scene of a accident at 38th Avenue North and 71st Street.

Reportedly, it appears to be a car and motorcycle accident and the motorcyclist has been identified as a trauma alert. 

West bound traffic on 38 Avenue is blocked at this time.
