St. Petersburg, Florida -- Saint Petersburg College is the first community college in the state to launch a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). 

On Wednesday, May 8, launched its free online course, Get Ready for College- Math, the first in a series of self-paced courses aimed at helping incoming students prepare for college. 

The goal of this class is to give potential sudents the help they need to improve their skills in math so that they can do well on the placememnt test or boost their confidence about returning to college.

Pediatricians, health providers and county health departments can provide vaccines at no cost to parents as part of the Vaccines for Children program.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.

Tampa Bay, Florida -- All Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate high school teachers from Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Manatee and Sarasota counties are invited to participate in a one-day workshop at The University of Tampa on Saturday, Feb. 23, to learn how to inspire students to take their interest in chemistry outside of the classroom.

The free event will be held in the Plant Hall Music Room on campus from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes lunch. The media is welcome to attend.

Over 175 students to present projects at District Science Fair

Pinellas County, Florida -- On Feb. 9, over 175 students will present their projects at the Pinellas County Schools District Science Fair at Seminole Middle School

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Largo High School on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. Some winners of the District Science Fair will have the opportunity to take their projects and compete in the 2013 State Science Fair.
