Country Jubilee ushers in autumn at Heritage Village

Largo, Florida -- The 34th Country Jubilee: A Centennial Celebration comes to Pinellas County’s Heritage Village on Saturday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For the first time, James Anthony Schnur’s long-awaited book, “Historic Pinellas County – A Centennial History” will be available for sale and the author will hold a book signing.

Fall events begin at Weedon Island Preserve

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Guided hikes abound each Saturday in October throughout Weedon Island Preserve.

From 9 to 11 a.m., participants learn about the ecosystems and the early residents of the preserve while hiking the coastal uplands and the boardwalks through mangrove forests. These 9 to 11 a.m. hikes are best for ages 6 and older.

Maximo Park to get new boat ramps

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Boaters will soon see new boat ramps at Maximo Park. Construction begins in September at the park located at 34th St. S. and Pinellas Point Drive.

From Sept. 10 through April of 2013, crews will demolish existing boat ramps and docks, do some minor dredging, and install five 22' boat ramps and one 44' wide boat ramp, with enough capacity to launch seven boats at once.
