Bay area breast care advocates finalists for Health Care Heroes | News

St. Petersburg, Florida -- On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the Tampa Bay Business Journal will honor Health Care Heroes.
Close to 40 finalists have been named for the honor in nine categories. Several of these people have been standouts in their breast cancer-related efforts.

In fact, we at 10 News have interviewed two of the finalists several times in the past as part of our Buddy Check 10 program.
Breast cancer survivor Shelby Coriaty is a mother of two who went through 18 surgeries. She now leads a support group helping other women at all stages. Shelby's story shows how family history matters as her sisters and mother have battled breast cancer. She's featured in the American Cancer Society's Put on Your Pink Bra campaign.
Moffitt Cancer Center's Dr. John Kiluk specializes in male breast cancer. Through his research, he's trying to prevent men from undergoing unneccesary surgery.
Tuesday's event is from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg.
