ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating an accidental drowning at an apartment complex.

The body of an unidentified man in his 30's was found in the pool at the Brandywine Apartments around 11:15 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to St. Petersburg General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A witness reportedly saw the victim swimming in the pool earlier in the day, and the victim had made some comment to the witness about betting on how long he could swim under water, according to police. The witness declined the bet and left the pool area.

Police are still working to identify the victim. It's not known at this time if he was a resident of the apartment complex.
