Cops: Howard Frankland death linked to other "crime scene"
News

Tampa, Florida -- The Tampa Police Department and the Hernando County Sheriff's Office are currently working together on the death investigation of a man who was pulled from the water at the Howard Frankland Bridge Friday.

The Hernando Sheriff's Office says they received a call shortly after 10 o'clock this morning from someone who said the word "hospital", verified the home address as 7115 Tarrytown Dr., and then hung up.

Spring Hill Fire Rescue responded first, and Hernando County deputies arrived shortly after.

Reports say when paramedics arrived at the home it was empty but it did appear to be a crime scene, containing evidence that someone inside had been seriously injured. A BOLO was sent out for the residents and their cars.

Then, around 1 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol called the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Communications Center saying they were out with "the vehicle in question" on the Howard Frankland Bridge.

According to reports at the scene, an occupant of the vehicle had jumped off the bridge into the water.

Hillsborough County deputies say the Hillsborough Medical Examiner is determining the cause of death.

Officials indicate that these two incidents are related, but have not released information regarding how.

Deputies say the victim's identity, and more details on the investigation will be released when they are available.
