Rays unveil 'Turn Back the Clock' jerseys
News

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The Rays have gone retro. The team unveiled their 1970's themed throwback jerseys Wednesday in honor of the 10th "Turn Back the Clock" game.

The uniform's design is a hypothetical take on what they would have looked like back in 1979. A patch on the left sleeve of the jersey features a City of St. Petersburg seal that was used in 1979.

Tampa Bay didn't actually get a major league baseball team until 1998.

The Rays will take on the Detroit Tigers, who will wear a uniform based on their actual 1979 road gray jersey.

The game, on Saturday, June 30, will also feature a performance by Earth, Wind & Fire as part of the Rays' 2012 Summer Concert Series.

For those of you who want your own Rays retro jersey, they will be auctioned off on raysbaseball.com following the game with proceeds benefitting the Moffitt Cancer Center and the Rays Baseball Foundation.
