St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Petersburg detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating in Mirror Lake Tuesday morning.

The body of 33-year-old Christopher Bennett was seen floating about 35 feet off shore by city maintanence workers in the area.

Authorities say there were no immediate signs of any injuries or foul play done to Bennett's body, however, homicide detectives are investigating the incident.

Police say Bennett was a homeless man and known to frequent the downtown area over the last few years. He had several arrests for minor alcohol related offenses with the most recent one on June 8 of this year.

The Medical Examiner's Office is conducting an autopsy to determine a cause of death.
