St. Pete scholarship signings | News
St. Petersburg, Florida -- On Wednesday, May 9 at 9 a.m., Mayor Bill Foster will lead the annual "Mayor's Mentors & More: Annual Doorways Scholarship Signing Ceremonies".
The ceremony will take place at the Coliseum, 535 Fourth Ave. N.
About 100 students and parents of the 5th-to-9th grades will receive four-year college tuition scholarships if the students can maintain good grades, remains drug and crime free, and benefits from the guidance of an adult mentor.
With the help of the Pinellas Education Foundation, the program will surge past 1,200 scholarships awarded to disadvantaged St. Petersburg sixth graders since 2001.
