Deadline approaching to ask for city's art grants | News
St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Petersburg is offering grants to non-profit arts and cultural organizations for the next budget year.
Representatives can learn more about the grants at an upcoming workshop on Wednesday, May 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Petersburg City Hall, 175 Fifth Street N., Room 100.
Grants are due on or before Friday, June 15.
St. Petersburg City Council members will dole out about $175,000 to eligible arts and cultural organizations to help with underwriting their operating expenses.
The city's Arts Advisory Committee will evaluate the applications and make recommendations to City Council in October. To be eligible, a nonprofit cultural organization must serve St. Petersburg, and the grant amount will be determined by the operating budget and application's merit.
This fiscal year, the city has granted money to American Stage, the Morean Arts Center, St. Petersburg Opera Company and others.
