National Signing Day 2013

Tampa Bay, Florida -- Feb. 6, 2013, is National Signing day and there were all sorts of notable signings in the Bay area today.

Some of the states biggest school signed some truly amazing athletes- See who got who below:

Florida:

3 sign at St. Pete High School today

St. Petersburg, FL -  It was a successful National Signing Day in St. Pete today as the Green Devils had three seniors sign their letters of intent.  

Among the signers were tight end Jeremy Kerr, who will play for Florida State next year, punter Sean Covington (at times called the best punter in the nation) who will head to UCLA and defensive lineman John Pellens, who will play for Maryville College next season.

Robinson defeats Lakewood 22-19 in playoffs

Tampa, Fl - Robinson quarterback Zain Gilmore toss a 4-yard touchdown pass to Martin Ruiz with only 14 seconds remaining in the game, clinching the victory for the Knights.

Robinson (11-1) will now host the Pasco Pirates (12-0) in a Class 5A region final game this Friday.

CCC beats St Pete Catholic 56-0

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater Central Catholic completed it's Class 3A - District 5 schedule 3-0, with a 56-0 pounding of St. Petersburg Catholic.

The Marauders scored 4 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to blow open the game. Junior running back Diquan Walker provided two rushing scores to lead a balanced offensive attack.

Clearwater Central Catholic (3-0, 8-1) are the Class 3A - District 8 champs, and will face Frostproof at home, in the first round of the playoffs.

Robinson beats Lakewood wins 5A-8 District

St. Petersburg, Fl - It was a battle of unbeaten teams, a battle of south St. Pete vs. south Tampa, a battle for the Class 5A-8 district championship.

The Robinson Knights got things rolling early.   Second play from scrimmage, Carlos Duclos took the pitch from quarterback Zain Gilmore and ran untouched 50 yards for the score.

In the second quarter, Robinson (8-0, 7-0) keep things rolling their way.   Martin Ruiz ran five yards for a touchdown and Gilmore went 18-yards up the middle, giving the Knights a 19-0 halftime lead.

District Volleyball: Calvary Christian Defeats St. Pete Catholic

In a clean sweep Monday night Calvary Christian advanced past St. Pete Catholic High school 3-0 in the Class 3A District 9 tournament.   The score was 25-8, 25-8, and 25-11.

The Warriors will now play Indian Rocks Christian, with the winner advancing to the District Championship game.
