So tell me a little about yourself.
Well first off my name is Maximilian Rivera everyone calls me Max for short. Born and raised in the Bronx,NY I moved to Orlando then Ocala. At age 17 I joined the Air Force (my mom had to sign the papers) and completed my 4 year tour. My job training consist of customer service jobs which was very eye opening and changed who I was. I'm currently 23 and working on my photography degree.
Wow! The Air Force at 17? That is very noble of you! What made you join?
I always wanted to fly a jet. I loved the outfit and I used to have this book when I was young called "Air Force Pliots". A the time I didn't realize you needed a lot more to be one!
How did you get into photography?
I got into photography while in the military. Me and a friend teamed up and did promotion work. We promoted latin artist to come into the area and take pictures and record the events. I got a lot of exposure quickly! I loved the feeling of networking. I came to florida and tried it by myself but its harder then it seems. I then learned the Tampa/Orlando fashion scene which I slowly shot runway shows and gained a little name for myself.
What has been your biggest achievement thus far?
The Nikera Clothing line shoot was the biggest event I've done thus far. From that shoot alone I've gotten published twice! I also met amazing make up artists and models and learned never to shoot all day on a beach without suntan lotion.
What is your favorite genre of photography?
I would have to say fashion/editorial. So many people portray it so different depending on where you're from or how artistic you can be.
What has been the craziest thing that has happened to you on a shoot?
I think when I was in Paris we had a gorgeous outfit on the model, and the make-up artist held her dress to the side but tourist thought she was a tourist attraction. So every 2 minutes I had to stop shooting so people could hug her and take pictures. The make up artist kept shoeing them away! It was pretty hilarious! Not only was it my first international shoot but I couldn't believe I was in Paris!
What is your ultimate goal?
My ultimate goal is to be known as a fashion photographer internationally. I want to be agency represented mostly by big names like Ford Models, Mega Models etc. I am making this my career so plan to see my name or logo places you read or shop!
I hope you enjoyed getting to know more about Max! He has amazing work so I wish him much success in his endeavours!
