Young man arrested for sexually battering 14-year-old girl | Crime
St. Petersburg, Florida-- Pinellas County detectives arrested 21-year-old David D. Corey Thursday for allegedly sexually battering a 14-year-old girl a couple of months ago.
According to deputies, Corey and the young victim met at a public park in Pinellas Park on May 3, 2012, and later that day, he sexually battered her in the garage of an abandoned residence located on the 3600 block of 51st Avenue North in in St. Petersburg.
Officials say the 14-year-old victim reported the crime to a deputy in the area, who began the initial investigation, and then forwarded the case to detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit.
Through their investigation, CAC detectives were able to identify the suspect as 21-year-old David D. Corey; and were further able to obtain a DNA match to the suspect.
The suspect agreed to meet detectives for an interview yesterday, and they arrested him for one-count of Sexual Battery.
Detectives say there is no indication at this time that there are other victims.
