St. Pete teen assaulted walking to bus stop | Crime

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Police are searching for the person who attacked a 16-year-old girl as she walked to the bus stop Friday morning.
The teen told St. Pete Police she had been walking to her bus stop shortly before 6:45 when a man approached her from behind near 3145 Bennett Street North.
The suspect grabbed her from behind and told her to be quiet. The victim managed to scream and break free from the suspect, who fled to a nearby bike and rode southwest from the area.
Police say the suspect is a white male in his 20's, thin build, medium height. He was last seen wearing a beanie cap, black long-sleeve shirt or jacket and dark pants.
The victim, who attends Northeast High School, was uninjured and has been interviewed by investigators.
It is not clear as to whether the suspect was attempting to commit a robbery or possibly an abduction before he fled the area.
