Hit and run driver kills man lying in road | Crime

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Police are searching for the driver involved the hit and run death of a man on 4th Avenue North Thursday morning.

According to St. Pete Police, around 12:25 a.m., an intoxicated man was lying on his back in the road in the 700 block of 4th Avenue North. During that time, a dark-colored Nissan sedan was heading east at a high rate of speed.

The driver changed lanes to avoid the man but ran him over and accelerated east on 4th Avenue North fleeing the scene.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle is described as a newer model, black or dark-colored, mid-sized Nissan sedan.
