Post Grand Prix Party honors Wheldon

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Since 2008, Dan Wheldon has hosted an after party gathering - a fundraiser - after the Grand Prix. And Sunday night that event continued in his memory.

It continued at the very same place too at Push Ultra Lounge in downtown St. Petersburg. A way to unwind after the big weekend of racing.

Fellow St. Petersburg resident and IndyCar racer Shannon McIntosh said it was an honor to now host the event.

"We're going to celebrate the great week we had here in St. Pete and just think about Dan Wheldon," McIntosh said.

Plan for Veterans of South Pinellas Charity Pancake Breakfast

St. Pete Beach, Fla.- After a successful fundraising event in 2011, the Veterans of South Pinellas County are holding their 2nd Annual Charity Pancake Breakfast to benefit local men and women in the military.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Hurricane Restaurant (807 Gulf Way).

In addition to pancakes, the event will showcase military vehicles, military weapons, a rock-climbing wall, and an antique fire truck.

Pinellas County takes the eTownHall on the road

For the first time, Pinellas County will take the eTownHall on the road and hold the interactive online event in front of a live audience.

The web-based eTownHall will be preceded by a traditional community open house to enable residents throughout the community to meet their county commissioners, learn more about the budget and county services, and be a part of the development of the county’s strategic planning.

St. Petersburg, Fla. -- Florida Blood Services (FBS) continues its community partnership with Tampa Bay area Walgreens.

A variety of store locations is hosting bloodmobiles from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on each of the Mondays in March and all donors will receive a FREE $10 Walgreens gift card. Here's the locations for this upcoming week.

Community outreach for Africa-American Heritage Project

St. Petersburg, Florida -- On Feb. 11, Mayor Bill Foster launched a new initiative known as the St. Petersburg African-American Heritage Project at the Sweetbay Supermarket's Black History Festival. 

Mayor Foster has scheduled the following community outreach meetings to inform residents about the project and collect additional information to develop the scope and sites for the project. Individuals are encouraged to bring any relevant information, such as newspaper articles, photographs, historical site info, to the meeting.
