Veterans called on to share their stories

Tampa, Florida -- Bob Patrick, head of the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress (VHP), is traveling to Tampa/Clearwater to call upon the public to help record the firsthand remembrances of area veterans July 27 - 28.

VHP is launching a special coordinated effort in west central Florida due to the high concentration of veterans in the area.

Walgreens hosts donation drive for Humane Society of Pinellas

Pinellas County, Florida -- Local Walgreens stores have kicked off its Feed a Fuzzy Belly pet food drive benefiting the Humane Society of Pinellas.

Forty-two Walgreens locations throughout Pinellas County, from Dunedin to St. Pete, are hosting collection stations for pet food & sundries such as kitty litter, toys, blankets, and cleaning supplies now through Aug. 4.

Tampa, Florida -- Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union announced the start of its Facebook "Paw-Parazzi Photo Contest" which will run from July 1 - July 31.

Members of the credit union and the community are encouraged to upload photographs of family pets on the credit union’s Facebook application tab designated for the contest, but first must "like" Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union on Facebook.

St. Pete declares Independents Week

St. Pete declares Independents Week

St. Petersburg, Florida -- As the country celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, St. Petersburg officials will declare July 1-7 Independents (INDEPENDENCE?) Week. 

The official proclamation will be read at City Hall Thursday at 3 p.m. You're encouraged to wear "Keep Saint Petersburg Local" T-shirts.

St. Pete Pride will also have their proclamation read declaring June St. Pete Pride month.

Show your St. Pete Pride this weekend

St. Petersburg, Florida -- This Saturday, June 30, the 10th Annual St. Pete Pride Street Festival and Promenade takes place from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The event will be held in the Grand Central District along with CARNIVALE-- Pride in Paradise with vendors from across the state celebrating on Central Avenue.

Last year's event, broke previous attendance records with 85,000 - 90,000 people.
