Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County Housing Authority (PCHA) announced Monday it was recently honored as best in the state by the Florida Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (FAHRO) at its 2012 Annual Convention & Trade Show in Orlando.

What’s good about Pinellas County parks?

Pinellas County is asking its residents to complete an online survey by Friday, Aug. 17, to help determine who is using the parks, trails and recreational facilities throughout the county.

The survey, conducted and funded through a Communities Putting Prevention to Work grant, will help determine residents’ activity preferences and opinions on safety and cleanliness. The voluntary survey is anonymous and residents may skip any question they choose not to answer.

You are invited you to compete in a city-wide search for St. Petersburg’s BEST CUPCAKE. A $15 entry fee allows each participant to enter one submission.

Feeding Children Everywhere donates food in Bay area

Lakeland, Florida -Feeding Children Everywhere (FCE) is donating 100,000 healthy meals to 30 school districts across the country this August. 

This donation is part of a national $3 million meal project in Tampa that will rally 20,000 people from the Bay area to hand-package rice, lentils, veggies and Himalayan sea salt into easy-to-make meals.

South Tampa families throw charity beach bash

Tampa, Florida-- Several South Tampa families are throwing a "Last Days of Summer Beach Bash" charity event at The Don Cesar Loews Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach.

The waterfront event includes a wiffle ball Tournament and barefoot dance party on Saturday, August 11, from 9 a.m. through sunset.

They created the event to raise money to help children with allergies and Primary Immune Deficiency.

Tampa Bay Watch receives historic gift

Tierra Verde, Florida – Tampa Bay Watch received the largest private gift in its 20-year history this month from The Mosaic Company Foundation. The $225,000 gift will support Tampa Bay Watch’s Community-Based Oyster Habitat and Water Quality initiatives. 

Community-Based Oyster projects are a cornerstone of Tampa Bay Watch’s restoration programs.  These projects encourage oyster growth through the construction and installation of oyster domes and oyster shell bars.
