Become a mentor for a Pinellas County student | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Are you a caring adult who would like to make a profound difference in a child’s life? If so you may want to become a Mentor through the Office of Strategic Partnerships, Family and Community Relations of the Pinellas County Schools.
Giving your time requires commitment, responsibility, loyalty, compassion, and empathy. But often the giver receives more by giving than the person receiving the gift.
Children grow up with high self esteem and make a positive impact in their communities when there are caring adults in their lives.
During this critical time for students in their growth and development, your role as a mentor models enthusiasm for learning, strength during trying situations, empathy for others, encouragement to stay motivated when things are tough, and to show them that when they fail it is learning experience. When students learn that they are not measured by their failures or triumphs, but by their character, and how they handle adversity, the more successful they will become.
Volunteers are provided useful information about being a mentor, a role model who offers encouragement. Participants will learn PCS mentoring policies & procedures, effective listening skills, goal setting, communication skills and relationship building. Attendance is required for all new Pinellas County Schools mentors.
