Tierra Verde, Florida – Tampa Bay Watch received the largest private gift in its 20-year history this month from The Mosaic Company Foundation. The $225,000 gift will support Tampa Bay Watch’s Community-Based Oyster Habitat and Water Quality initiatives.
Community-Based Oyster projects are a cornerstone of Tampa Bay Watch’s restoration programs. These projects encourage oyster growth through the construction and installation of oyster domes and oyster shell bars.
“Tampa Bay Watch has long been impressed with Mosaic’s growing commitment to water quality and habitat protection,” says Peter Clark, Tampa Bay Watch President in a release, “and we are honored that they have chosen to invest in our Community-Based Oyster programs in such a high-impact way.”
In addition to its financial support, The Mosaic Company will be actively involved in oyster habitat restoration through corporate volunteer days. Mosaic employees will participate in key habitat restoration projects, installing Oyster Domes and building oyster shell reefs with Tampa Bay Watch.
The Mosaic Company is committed to investing at least one percent of its profits into its communities globally. Among The Mosaic Company Foundation’s grant focus areas are water conservation and habitat protection. Tampa Bay Watch was among 37 organizations that recently received funding in an inaugural round of contributions made through the Foundation’s new online grant system.
