HIV-AIDS Awareness to be focus of health event | Community Spirit

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Area lawmakers will gather to show support for HIV-AIDS testing and awareness at an event Friday.
Florida Rep. Darryl Rouson, Pinellas County Commissioner Ken Welch and St. Petersburg City Councilman Karl Nurse are among those scheduled to attend the Caribbean-American HIV/AIDS Awareness Day Celebration. Health professionals, entertainers, restaurants and vendors selling Caribbean and West Indian wares will take part as well.
There will be screenings, education, food, entertainment and shopping. You can check out the health events from noon to 4 pm, and the ater-party event begins at 8 PM at Macau's at The Yard, 4300 6th St. S., St. Petersburg.
Help-Us-Help-U, a Tampa Bay HIV awareness not-for-profit organization, and Test Tampa Bay, a campaign to heighten HIV education efforts in Hillsborough and Pinellas County Health Departments helped collaborate for the event co-sponsored by
Operation PAR and ASAP.
