Pinellas County, Florida -- The Tourist Development Council received a presentation from international representatives of Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater at its Oct. 10 meeting.
Vanessa Alexander is the director of the United Kingdom, Ireland and Scandinavia office and Marion S. Wolf is the director of the Central European office. The presentation outlined the marketing efforts overseas and their success as measured by an increase in travel to Pinellas County.
In the first six months of 2012, visitation from the United Kingdom increased by 7.5 percent and Central European visits rose by approximately 18 percent for an average of 11 percent from the combined markets, according to an analysis by Walter Klages of Research Data Services.
In November, Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater will be represented at London’s World Travel Market International Trade Show, the second largest trade show in the world. As per tradition, the chairman of the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners and chair of the Tourist Development Council, positions held this year by John Morroni, will attend as an ambassador of Pinellas County.
