Science festival on the waterfront

St. Petersburg, Florida -- You can check out nearly 100 fun, hands-on exhibits at the 2nd Annual St. Petersburg Science Festival this Saturday. The free event at USF St. Petersburg is hosted in conjunction with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's 18th Annual MarineQuest.

The event drew 6,000 people last year, and this year's is going to feature almost four times as many exhibits like robotics, medicine, Mars exploration, marine life, green living and the World of the Worm.

The keynote speaker is NASA Astronaut Ann M. Micklos. She'll present "Seven Minutes of Terror: Landing the Mars Rover Curiosity" at 1 p.m. in DAVIS 130.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 at USF St. Petersburg.
