Alcohol suspected in crash that killed elderly woman

Pinellas Park, Florida -- Charges are expected to be filed against a St. Petersburg man who crashed his car into another Wednesday afternoon, killing an 84-year-old woman.

Investigators say William McClendon, 44, drove his Nissan Murano into the path of a Lincoln Towncar operated by Helen Sauerbier, 84, of Pinellas Park at Gandy Boulevard and 35th Street.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, and McClendon was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Dali celebrations one year in new location

St. Petersburg, FL -- One of the Bay area's hottest attractions is celebrating a birthday today. It's hard to believe the new Dali Museum in downtown St. Pete has already been open a whole year.

Several Salvador Dali's joined the celebration, which wouldn't be complete without cake.

The museum's director announced some new upcoming exhibits including works by the contemporary artist Jeff Koons coming in October followed by exhibits of Basque Sculptor Eduardo Chillida and Pablo Picasso in relation to Salvador Dali's work. It's stuff that's never been seen before in Florida.

Suspect dies after police chase in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A robbery suspect is dead after St. Petersburg police say the getaway vehicle he was in crashed during a police pursuit on Tuesday.

The chase happened around 5:22 p.m. on 49th Street northbound approaching 5th Ave. North.

Police say the suspect, 29-year-old Kenneth Gordon Davis Jr., was a passenger in the vehicle, which crashed into three other vehicles. No police cars were involved in the crash.

''Hiccup girl'' appears in court on murder charge

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The girl who gained national attention for a case of the hiccups that wouldn't stop was back in a Pinellas courtroom Wednesday morning.

Jennifer Mee, now 20, is facing a first-degree murder charge, along with two other men. They're accused of luring 22-year-old Shannon Griffin to a St. Petersburg house in October 2010, where was then robbed and shot.

More run-ins with police surface involving terror suspect

St. Petersburg, Florida -- While he didn't have a long rap sheet, suspected terrorist Sami Osmakac was no stranger to police.

St. Petersburg Police now say they had two run-ins with Osmakac in recent years, while records show authorities were called to the family's Pinellas Park home six times since 2003.

In 2009, authorities say Osmakac head-butted a man inside the family's store on 4th Street. police Spokesperson Michael Puetz said the incident followed an earlier conversation where the victim told Osmakac he thought his outfit was "very sexy."
