St. Petersburg, Florida - With sailboats on Tampa Bay as a background, Sierra Club members worry about fertilizer bills now sailing through committees in Tallahassee.

"Who would benefit from this legislation? No one, except the pest control and fertilizer companies," said the Sierra Club's Cris Costello at a morning news conference.

If passed, Senate Bill 604 and House Bill 421 would allow lawn care companies to apply fertilizer during the rainy season-essentially gutting local ordinances with summer fertilizer bans.

St. Petersburg, Florida - The 2012 Rays Fan Fest presented by MetroPCS, scheduled for Saturday, February 18 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Tropicana Field, will feature an unprecedented number of activities for kids. Proceeds from select events benefit the Rays Baseball Foundation and the ALS Association Florida Chapter. 

St. Petersburg, Florida (AP) - Deputies say a 36-year-old man is in good condition after jumping off the Sunshine Skyway bridge, which spans Tampa Bay.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies say John Stewart Murray of Pinellas Park attempted suicide early Thursday by jumping off the bridge.

Authorities say Stewart was conscious when he hit the water and a boater picked him up. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he is receiving further medical evaluations.

Stewart apparently jumped from the center span of the bridge.
