45th annual Dine Out Day benefits youth programs

Pinellas County, Florida -- On Wednesday, May 15, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office -- along with the Pinellas County Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association -- is holding their 45th Annual Dine-Out Day.

During the fundraiser to benefit Pinellas Sheriff's youth programs, participating restaurants will accept Dine-Out Dollars in lieu of cash for meal payment and donate $2.50 for every $5.00 spent.

Food trucks to come help celebrate medical staff

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Bayfront Medical Center is celebrating its nurses, volunteers and staff during hospital week. 

Throughout the week there will be special events thanking the medical heroes which will culminate on Friday, May 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with six food trucks in the West Circle area of Bayfront's campus. The event will be open to the public and outdoor picnic tables will be provided.

Attempted murder, suicide at St. Pete motel

St. Petersburg, Florida - One man is dead and another injured after a shooting at the New Plaza Motel early Tuesday morning.

At around 4:30 a.m. St. Pete police found the motel night clerk, 47-year-old Jerome Horacek, shot several times in the upper torso. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Pinellas County Animal Services close on May 21

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Pinellas County Animal Services will be closed on Tuesday, May 21 for in-service day. 

This will affect the Pinellas County Animal Services located at 12450 Ulmerton Road in largo.

Regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will resume on May 22.

Underage prostitution sting to target johns next

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- Two different Bay area sheriff's are targeting the website Backpage.com. They say it's a haven for sex crimes and human trafficking.

On Sunday in Pinellas County, two men and a woman were arrested at the Knights Inn on 54th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says Donell Jenkins of St. Petersburg forced two young runaway girls  to sell their bodies over a period of about a week.
